One of the top destinations worldwide to visit is Tanzania and it’s no surprise. On a visit to tantalizing Tanzania, tourists are able to witness an abundance of wildlife in their natural habitat, tour amazing national parks, and walk on beautiful white sand beaches. It’s the ultimate travel lovers’ paradise.
The Great Migration
Every year from the months of July to November, wildlife enthusiasts and travelers, in general, trek to Kenya and Tanzania to behold The Great Migration. The Great Migration is the largest migration in the world. From July to around mid-August, wildebeest by the millions move to Kenya’s Masai Mara by crossing the Mara River – with babies in tow and predators on their heels. It’s truly a sight to see!
Keep in mind that July through September is peak season, so it’s advised to book 12 to 18 months in advance.
By October and through November, the migration works its way southward to Tanzania. This is the perfect time to go on a safari and witness various animals, including scores of zebras, Grant’s gazelles, Thomson’s gazelles, elands, and even impalas. Hungry predators, as mentioned earlier, can also be spotted at this time – lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, wild dogs, and crocodiles.
It’s truly “survival of the fittest” and makes for “the greatest show on Earth.” Depending on your adventure level, you can remain stationary and let the migrating animals come to you, or if you’re bursting for some adventure, you can chase the action and track the herd!
Lovely national parks
Whether you visit Ruaha, Katavi, or Kitulo national parks in the southern zone; Serengeti or Kigosi national parks in the western zone; the northern’s Tarangire, Arusha, or Kilimanjaro national parks; or, Saadani, Mikuni, or Nyerere (Tanzania’s largest park) national park in the eastern zone, there is much to explore and enjoy in East Africa.
Popular activities when visiting Tanzania’s remarkable parks make up a broad range. Choose from wilderness walks; cycling; mountain climbing; boating; paragliding; crater camping; kayaking; sunrise, sunset, and night game drives; sports fishing; and even hot air ballooning! If you’re a climber, you’ll especially enjoy Mawenzi Peak technical climbing (Mawenzi is Mount Kilimanjaro’s 2nd highest peak coming in at a whopping 5, 149 meters tall located just east of Uhuru Peak).
Family-friendly beaches
Tanzanian beaches off the coast of the Indian Ocean are different from many beaches throughout the world. They’re completely natural, nothing man-made, and quite shallow. This makes for family-friendly beaches, and the gorgeous white sands are just perfect for catching some sun.
Another perk: encountering sharks and other harmful-to-human marine animals is not as common. So, with calm, safe waters, what better place to vacation?
