Do you have dreams of going to Alaska?
Well, make those dreams come true and jump aboard an Alaska cruise, cruise tour, or small group active adventure.
You won't regret it.
Here are six significant things to consider when planning your trip and why I recommend you visit Alaska sooner rather than later.
1. Decide how best to visit "The Last Frontier"
Sailing in Alaska extends from the middle of May to mid-September.
During these months, you won't likely see a shortage of cruise line options. The choices range from the large mass market cruise lines, more moderately sized premium cruises, to much smaller luxury or expedition-style cruises. What suits one person may not suit another person at all, so considering your travel style and the "vibe" you want during your cruise is important.
Not wanting to cruise? You still have a number of options for small group guided tours and adventure tours.
Want a little of both? A cruise tour may be the perfect option for you, combining a cruise with a land extension.

2. Alaska is desirable to people of all ages and tends to be high up on many bucket lists.
Many families visit Alaska each year to enjoy the beauty of the great state and the broad scope of activities and events. You can experience the stunning landscapes and wildlife, immerse yourself in cultural experiences, learn about the history of the area, as well as participate in any number of adventure activities such as ziplining, kayaking, ATV riding, fishing, flightseeing, dogsledding and more!

3. The wildlife is absolutely out of this world.
When traveling through Alaska, don't be surprised to spot bears hunting for fish, whales, eagles, moose, and many other beautiful creatures.
You will absolutely want to have your camera and binoculars ready.
4. Dare to go dog sledding?
You may have to take a helicopter ride to get into the mountains first to sled on snowy fields or you can do what we did and take a non-snowy version that uses a modified golf-cart type vehicle. It depends on what is available and what fits your schedule. Both will be a lot a fun and provide a memorable experience.
Best of all, you get to hang with sweet huskies all day.

5. Visit the heart of Alaska - its stunning National Parks.
Alaska, the Last Frontier, boasts some of the most breathtaking national parks in the world. Each park offers unique landscapes, abundant wildlife, and unparalleled adventure opportunities. How many of these Alaska National Parks will you visit?
Denali National Park and Preserve
Kenai Fjords National Park
Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve
Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve
Gates of the Arctic National Park

6. Sadly, Alaska won't be as charming as it is now, forever.
Alaska truly is one of the most magical places on Earth, and it's right here in the United States.
From lush forests to enormous glaciers, there is so much to admire during your trip.
We all know that things change over time, and we have seen the Alaska landscape change too.
If you, like almost everyone else, have "visit Alaska" on your bucket list, what are you waiting for?
